Buildings with has a lineage dating back to the 1600s

The foundations of Nääs can be dated back to the 1600s. We aren’t exactly sure how it looked back then, but most probably it was a two storey house built of stone. Nääs gained its current appearance in the 1820s.

The Crafts College

The buildings that make up the Crafts College are a physical representation of the educational principles that Otto Salomon established at Nääs. Construction of the Crafts College was completed in 1880 according to the drawings of the architect Adrian C Peterson.

Lekhuset

The Games Hall [Lekhuset]

The Games Hall represents a central pillar of the Nääs method developed by Otto Salomon. From the outset he regarded crafts, and in particular woodwork, as essential in the rearing of children. However, over time he modified his thinking to also allow for play in a child’s upbringing.

Vänhem

Vänhem

When courses were being held at Nääs, Vänhem became the place for social get-togethers. The building was extended several times in order to make room for the many course participants.
